Summer Camps at Navarino Nature Center

Junior Investigator Day Camp –     July 27 — July 30, 2010

                 8:30 am to Noon       (Ages 8 – 10)

Junior Explorer Day Camp –     August 3 — 6, 2010 

                 10 am to 3 pm           (Ages 9 – 12)

Junior Camper –   August 11 — 13, 2010

Weekly Wildlife Walks — Tuesdays at 8:30 to 11 am, September 7—October 5, 2010  Young and old can join the NNC naturalist to walk a different section of the trails of Navarino.  Every Tuesday from September 7  thru October 5, 2010, meet at NNC at 8:30 am. 

Fee:   NNC members $2, Non members $5, Families $12

Navarino Nature Center 21st Annual Banquet

– Thursday, September 23, 2010

This annual fundraising banquet consists of a dinner, raffles, auctions and lots of fun while raising funds to keep NNC up and running.  Call 715-758-6999 for information.

Voyaging down the Wolf River – Saturday, October 2, 2010 8:30 am to 2:30 pm

Canoe the Wolf River in the DNR Voyageur Canoes from the boat ramp at Cty Hwy CCC to the Hwy 156 boat  ramp,  all equipment is provided.  Bring a lunch and any personal items.   Fee = $15 NNC members, $20 general public     RSVP by Sept. 22, 2010

5th Annual Geocaching Event at NNC - Saturday, October 9, 2010 8:30 am to 3pm

Teams or individuals use their GPS units to see how many geocaches they can find on the Navarino Wildlife Area.  NNC will place caches out for this event, participants will have to sign in at NNC to get the coordinates of the caches.  Meals can be purchased at NNC between 11 am to 2 pm at the Fall Family Fun Day event. More information to follow.

Fall Family Fun Day – Saturday, October 9, 2010   11 am – 3 pm

Fall open house at NNC.  Free to the public, more information to follow.

Sunset Wagon Ride – Saturday, October 9, 2010 4 pm – 6:30 pm

This is the only way to see the interior of the Navarino Wildlife Area by motorized access.  Ride on the NNC wagons from the Nature Center around Pike’s Peak flowage as we head toward the Wolf River Flowages.  View waterfowl, fall colors and hundreds of Sandhill Cranes on the return trip.

FEE = $5 NNC members and $10 general public

Halloween Happenings at Navarino Nature Center

– Saturday, October 23, 2010   6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

This is a non-scary Halloween event consisting of a number of NEW Halloween games, a Jack-o-Lantern Trail walk, and food around a bonfire.  Children can come in costume.  All children under 15 receive a Trick or Treat sack for their Halloween game winnings.  Everyone receives a ticket for a s’more down at the bonfire.

Join in the bird count by counting the birds at your feeder between sunrise and sunset.  Contact NNC for more information.
