§         Hiking, Skiing, and Snowshoeing

·        100 miles of trails, 12 miles are groomed for cross-country skiing during the winter months.  New snowshoeing trail in 2002 – 2003.

·        Snowshoe rentals: $1.50 under 15 yrs, $2.50 Adults.

§         Picnicking

·        Large area with open-air shelter house, fire ring, tables, and playground equipment.

§         Fishing

·        Access to Wolf River off of Hwy 156. 

·        Wisconsin fishing rules apply.

§         Boating / Canoeing

·        Wolf River

·        Wildlife area flowages (canoes only)

§         Hunting

    (in the Navarino Wildlife Area)

·        Whitetail deer

·        Ruffed grouse

·        Wood cock

·        Squirrel

·        Snowshoe hares and cottontail rabbits

·        Canada geese

·        Turkeys and pheasants

 

*A 1,000-acre refuge is closed to hunting during waterfowl season.

§         Wildlife viewing

·        Registered as a Wisconsin Wildlife Viewing Area; many types of native wildlife can be observed both from your vehicle and by foot.  Deer, turkey, Sandhill cranes, Canada geese, mallards, wood ducks, and muskrats are commonly seen around the wildlife area and nature center.  Some common species of wildlife you may see include: otters, black terns, American bitterns, Blanding’s turtle, yellow-headed black birds, ruffed grouse, pheasants, several species of wood peckers, and many others.
